Take this medication as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or three times a day, with or without food. Typically, the first dosage is taken as soon as you wake up. If your doctor prescribes further doses, take them as soon as possible—typically 4-6 hours apart. Using this drug right before bed may result in sleeplessness.

Use a specific measuring tool or spoon to accurately measure the dosage if you are taking this medication in liquid form. A household spoon may not give you the right dosage, so avoid using one.

Your medical condition and response to treatment will determine the dosage. Your physician may change your dosage until it is the one that works best for you. Pay close attention to your doctor’s recommendations.

To reap the greatest benefits from this drug, take it on a daily basis. Take it at the same time(s) every day to aid in memory.

You can get withdrawal symptoms (such as extreme fatigue, difficulty sleeping, and mental/emotional changes like depression) if you abruptly stop using this medicine. Serotonin syndrome/toxicity is a rare but extremely dangerous illness that this medicine may occasionally cause by raising serotonin levels.
